ANSWER

According to album cover photographer Henry Diltz, the inspiration came from the back cover of The Doors album Morrison Hotel. The full title of the album was Morrison Hotel / Hard Rock Cafe, with one side of the album sub-titled "Morrison Hotel" , and the other side "Hard Rock Cafe". Both the Morrison Hotel on the front cover and a bar called the Hard Rock Cafe on the back cover were real establishments in downtown Los Angeles' skid row district. About a year after the release of the Morrison Hotel album, Hard Rock Cafe founders Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton opened their first restaurant in London.
